Dr Sue Ling Wan has been living in the Blue Mountains since 2019. She established Blue Mountains Vision in August 2024, with the commitment to providing the highest standard of eye care to the region.

Dr Sue was born in Perth, and completed her six year undergraduate medical degree at the University of Western Australia in 2005. After an internship at Royal Perth Hospital, she moved to Sydney to take up a position as a Resident Medical Officer at Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) in 2006. During her year at RPA, she was seconded to Sydney Eye Hospital, when she decided she would become a clinician-scientist in the field of Ophthalmology. Dr Sue become a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists in October 2014.

Prior to commencing her vocational training, Dr Sue worked as a Senior Resident Medical Officer at St Vincent's Hospital whilst pursuing a Master of Ophthalmic Science degree through the University of Sydney. For her treatise, she conducted research in Cerebral Metamorphopsia, jointly supervised by Dr Gordon Plant (Queen's Square, London, UK) and Professor Frank Billson (University of Sydney). She graduated from the Masters Degree in 2009. The research in Cerebral Metamorphopsia was then extended into a PhD from the University of Sydney, graduating in 2023.

Dr Sue's subspeciality Ophthalmology fellowship training and international experience has been extensive. In July and August of 2013, she completed a Manual Small Incisional Cataract Surgery course at the LV Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad India, and was an Honorary Visiting Fellow in Paediatric Ophthalmology at the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in New Delhi. From September to December of 2013, she was an International Ophthalmology Fellow with the East Timor Eye Program, at the National Eye Centre, Dili National Hospital, Timor-Leste, as a recipient of the RANZCO Eye Foundation/Hobart Eye Surgeons East Timor Scholarship. In 2014 Dr Sue returned to Perth, as a Clinical Research Fellow, in Clinical Genetics and Epidemiology, at the Lions Eye Institute, until March 2014, and then as a Medical Retina Fellow at Royal Perth Hospital until February of 2015. In 2016, Dr Sue was a Neuro-Ophthalmology Fellow at Moorefields Eye Hospital, London, UK, followed in 2017 with a Paediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.

At present, in addition to providing eye care to the community through Blue Mountains Vision, Dr Sue is a Visiting Medical Officer at Nepean Hospital offering public cataract surgery.
